Where Does Pat Ryan Live? Maybe AOC Can Ask Him Today
Not One Media Outlet in NY-18 Has Asked
KINGSTON, NY, October 6, 2026 - Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will appear alongside Congressman Pat Ryan in Dutchess County today, giving her an opportunity to ask Ryan the same basic question she once demanded that former Congressman Joe Crowley answer:
Pat, where do you actually live?
The appearance comes the same day the New York Post reports that Ryan declined to say whether his children attend school in Washington, D.C., or in New York's 18th Congressional District, amid questions raised by Republican congressional candidate Jackie Auringer about Ryan's residency and taxpayer-funded benefits.
“Eight years ago, AOC thought voters deserved to know why their Congressman was raising his family outside the district,” Auringer said. “Today she'll be standing next to Pat Ryan. Maybe she can ask him the same question: Pat, where do you and your family actually live?”
Ryan receives a veterans property-tax exemption on his Gardiner home that requires the property to be his primary residence. Congressional records have also documented more than $60,000 in taxpayer-funded Washington lodging reimbursements.
Auringer has separately asked D.C. education officials to investigate whether residency requirements connected with the Ryan children's reported D.C. public-school enrollment were satisfied.
Yet despite the questions surrounding Ryan's residency and taxpayer-funded benefits, not one media outlet in NY-18 has asked Ryan where he actually lives.
Today, Ryan will appear with Ocasio-Cortez and Governor Kathy Hochul in Dutchess County for a data-center roundtable followed by a press conference.
For Ocasio-Cortez, the question should be familiar.
During her 2018 campaign against longtime Democratic Congressman Joe Crowley, Ocasio-Cortez made Crowley's residency an issue because his family lived in Virginia and his children attended school there.
“If a person loved their community, they would choose to raise their family here. They would choose to send their children to our schools,” Ocasio-Cortez said during their televised debate.
“This isn't complicated,” Auringer said. “Pat Ryan says Gardiner is his primary residence. If his children are attending public school in Washington, taxpayers deserve to know what residency was claimed and whether the appropriate tuition and taxes are being paid.”
“Both the New York Post, and the Times Union asked questions that apparently no local media outlet is willing to ask,” Auringer added. “There will be reporters standing in front of Pat Ryan today. Ask him where he lives. And if they won't, maybe AOC will.”
