HOLLYWOOD ‘MEAN GIRL’ SEYFRIED ATTEMPTS TO LECTURE GOP CANDIDATE—TURNS OUT SHE’S IN THE WRONG CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Jackie Auringer fires back after actress endorses Pat Ryan despite being unable to vote for him
KINGSTON, N.Y. - October 26, 2026— Mean Girls actress Amanda Seyfried attempted to lecture Republican congressional candidate Jackie Auringer over an Instagram campaign graphic - only to acknowledge that she does not live in New York’s 18th Congressional District and cannot vote for the Democrat she endorsed.
“Pat Ryan and Amanda Seyfried have something in common: neither one lives in the district,” Auringer said.
The exchange began when Seyfried reposted Auringer’s Mean Girls-themed campaign graphic, wrote, “I didn’t approve this babe,” and urged her followers to vote for Ryan.
Auringer gave as good as she got.
“Celebrities move to the Hudson Valley to escape the consequences of the same failed policies they supported somewhere else,” Auringer said. “Then they vote to bring those policies here, driving up housing costs and taxes. When they have helped make the region unaffordable, they can pack up and leave - the rest of us can’t. We are left to live with the damage.”
Seyfried defended her community involvement, told Auringer to “breathe and work on your campaign,” and advised the Republican candidate to “be more like a Mitt Romney and less like a trump.”
Auringer responded that Seyfried lives in Stone Ridge, outside the 18th Congressional District, and is represented by Congressman Josh Riley. When Auringer pointed out that Seyfried could vote for neither her nor Ryan, Seyfried conceded: “That’s true!!! You did it! A fact!”
Auringer delivered the final punchline using one of the best-known lines from Seyfried’s own movie Mean Girls:
“She doesn’t even go here.”
Seyfried subsequently removed her Instagram stories and blocked Auringer.
Screenshots of the public exchange and direct messages are available upon request.
“At least Amanda Seyfried sends her children to school here in the Hudson Valley,” Auringer said. “That’s more than Pat Ryan can say.”
