Auringer: “Pat Ryan Is Not a Socialist With His Money — He Is With Yours”

Kingston, NY, September 2, 2026 — “Pat Ryan is not a socialist with his money—he is with yours. And he is a hypocrite when it comes to securing our elections,” Republican congressional candidate Jackie Auringer said following Ryan’s vote Tuesday against a House resolution denouncing socialism and supporting citizenship verification and voter ID.

“Pat Ryan stands to make money as his private AI company sells identity-verification technology, but he voted against using identity verification to help secure our elections,” Auringer continued. “Identity verification is apparently good when it benefits Pat Ryan’s investment portfolio but bad when it protects the integrity of our elections.”

Ryan joined 191 House Democrats in opposing the resolution, which passed 220–192. Eight Democrats in competitive districts broke with their party and voted for it.

The vote represented a reversal for Ryan. In November 2025, he joined 85 other Democrats in voting for H. Con. Res. 58, a resolution “denouncing the horrors of socialism.”

What changed?

This time, the resolution also called for passage of the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo identification to cast a ballot.

Ryan owns a private financial stake in Socure, an artificial-intelligence company specializing in identity-verification technology. Socure sells its technology to governments and businesses around the world to verify identities, prevent fraud and protect access to sensitive systems - including election systems.

“Pat Ryan is betting his own money on the value of identity verification while voting against citizenship verification and voter ID for American elections,” Auringer said. “That is hypocrisy, plain and simple.”

Ryan’s financial disclosures reveal a multi-million-dollar household portfolio that has included a six-figure investment in Tesla, private investments in artificial-intelligence companies and holdings in numerous publicly traded corporations.

Ryan has attacked Elon Musk and warned about artificial intelligence while maintaining investments tied to Musk and the expanding AI economy. He attacks wealthy investors as a politician while behaving exactly like one with his own money.

“Pat Ryan is a capitalist when he buys Tesla stock, a venture capitalist when he invests in private AI companies, a socialist when he spends your money and a hypocrite when it comes to securing our elections,” Auringer concluded. “Hudson Valley families deserve a representative who protects their votes and their paychecks as aggressively as Pat Ryan protects his own portfolio.”
