Auringer Calls on Ryan to Put America First, De-Escalate Rhetoric as Efforts Continue to End Iran Conflict
"We must focus on ending this conflict, not partisan attacks."
KINGSTON, NY, April 30, 2026 - Congressional candidate Jackie Auringer today called on Rep. Pat Ryan to put the country ahead of politics and de-escalate his partisan rhetoric as the administration works to bring the escalating conflict with Iran to an end.
"This is a moment for seriousness, not political theater," Auringer said. "While the administration is working to end this conflict, sadly, Pat Ryan's partisan rhetoric is only making that goal harder to reach."
Auringer's comments follow a heated House Armed Services Committee exchange in which Ryan again called for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to resign.
"Everyone wants accountability, but there is a time and a place," Auringer continued. "Calls for resignation and political grandstanding in the middle of an active conflict do not make America stronger. They risk undermining the very mission of keeping our troops safe and bringing this conflict to a responsible conclusion."
Auringer emphasized that bringing the conflict to an end is critical not only for national security, but for economic stability at home.
"A safer world is a more affordable world," Auringer said. "Ending this conflict will help stabilize global energy markets, bring down gas prices, and ease the financial pressure facing families across the Hudson Valley and the country."
She concluded by urging a shift in tone and focus.
"This isn't about scoring points in Washington," Auringer said. "It's about protecting American lives, supporting our troops, and doing the hard work to bring this conflict to an end. I'm calling on Pat Ryan to put America first, lower the rhetoric, and focus on ending this conflict, not partisan attacks."
