Jackie Auringer Refuses to Sign Ryan's Positive Campaign Pledge

Last week, Congressman Pat Ryan proposed his "Positive Campaign Pledge," five simple guidelines for candidates to follow in the race for NY-18 to ensure a good-faith, issue-based race to represent the people of the Hudson Valley. Ryan is running for a third full term representing New York's 18th Congressional District. He is being challenged by Jackie Auringer, a Florida transplant who moved to the Hudson Valley just prior to announcing her campaign for Congress.

Ryan's Positive Campaign Pledge included, among others, commitments to keep campaigning focused on the issues instead of personalities, to reject corporate PAC money, and utilize union labor. Auringer is refusing to sign the pledge.

"The people of the Hudson Valley deserve a campaign that's about them, not petty politics - that's the kind of good-faith campaign my pledge would ensure. I'm proud to work tirelessly every day to deliver real, tangible results for this community - and I'm just getting started," said Congressman Pat Ryan. "Even though my opponent refuses to agree to a positive campaign, I'll keep running on the issues, my record, and delivering for the Hudson Valley."

A Ryan Campaign Spokesperson added, "Jackie Auringer's only clear policy is that she embraces the worst kind of politics, rooted in personal attacks, carried out from behind a keyboard. She refuses to face the voters, won't debate the issues, didn't collect a single signature to be on the ballot, and won't take any coherent policy positions. She just confirmed her campaign will be bought and paid for by corporate PACs, will continue to use AI to produce purposefully misleading content, and she apparently has no interest in actually running on the issues."
