Auringer: Pat Ryan Changed His Vote. Now He Is Changing the Story to Court the Radicals in the DSA.

Kingston, NY - July 16, 2026

Jackie Auringer today accused Congressman Pat Ryan of saying whatever is politically convenient, then rewriting his record when his own words become a problem all while positioning himself for his next campaign.

In an August 20, 2025 letter to constituents, Ryan said he stood "united with the State of Israel" and was "committed to doing everything in my power to protect Israel from Iran and its terrorist proxies." He highlighted his support for $14 billion in military assistance and said he had "pushed relentlessly" to secure it. Ryan had also previously called an attempt to cut support for Israel "disgraceful" and repeatedly described Israel as a critical American ally.

This week, Ryan voted for an amendment titled "No Funds for Israel," which would prohibit funds in the bill from being used for Israel and reduce the Foreign Military Financing Program by approximately $3.3 billion.

"Pat Ryan can call it whatever he wants after the fact," Auringer said. "The vote is the vote. He voted for a broad cutoff of military assistance to Israel, and no amount of explaining it away after the fact changes what the amendment actually did."

Auringer said Ryan's latest reversal reflects a larger pattern of making strong promises when they are politically useful, then abandoning them once the political winds shift and pointed to his evolving relationship with the DSA wing of the Democratic Party as the clearest example of why.

In 2023, Ryan condemned a NYC-DSA rally following the October 7 attacks as "blatant antisemitism." Today, the DSA openly advocates ending U.S. military aid to Israel, and Ryan has now voted for that same broad outcome.

"This isn't a coincidence, and it isn't a change of heart," Auringer said. "Pat Ryan has his eye on higher office, and he knows he can't get there without the radicals in the DSA. So, he's doing what ambitious politicians do he's making himself useful to the people who can get him his next job."

Auringer concluded, "Pat Ryan went from condemning the DSA's response to October 7 to voting for one of its central demands and now Hudson Valley families deserve to know whether his convictions changed or his political calculations did."
